This Lumix G100 is just the right size - in a small camera bag it fits in my kit bag easily (including the mini tripod/cable release). Solid and good quality construction, exposure metering / autofocus is fast enough (I use it more for still than video at the moment), has a lot of functionality (with the usual programme/auto + manual modes), even with the kit lens produces some amazing photos and with M43 mount can use a lot of affordable lenses - good value for money for what you get! (These photos are taken with the kit lens, I'd also got new alloy wheels for my car) I tend to take a lot of what could be called "industrial" photos, mostly with available light so using higher ISO speeds so don't mind a bit of noise, as I remember grainy ISO 400/800+ film used for the photos in the 1970s/80s era old motoring books I collect.. Review: Brilliant Carry Anywhere Camera - This tiny M43 camera seemed to receive a lot of negative reviews on initial release, presumably as it was marketed as VLOG camera. Although it does have an excellent sounding Nokia microphone and (of course) excellent Panasonic video capabilities, I bought this primarily as stills shooter and I’m really glad I did. I was able to pick this newly released G100D (with 12-32mm) here on desertcart where it was £100 cheaper than other retailers. The ‘D’ model now has USB-C on-board and upgrades to OLED viewfinder / screen. I don’t know what Panasonic have done to the firmware of the G100D but I’m getting some superb image quality out of it, especially JPEG’s. The colours in particular (at least to my eyes) are considerably better than my old (now sold) G80 and a very close match to the G9II I also own. I guess the main M43 competitor to this is probably the OM System OM5, which is a similar diminutive size but arguably has a better build quality. However that camera is also double the price of the G100D. Although the little Panasonic has more plastic in its construction, it also has an excellent grip and the well received Panasonic menu system which is arguably the best out there. The shooting experience for me has been absolutely fine. I can obviously swap on any M43 lens for my collection including the Leica derivations. I have even started to give myself little shooting challenges on it (eg. long exposure work). A breeze on its G9II big brother, but surprisingly do-able on the G100D. In fact it’s surprising how much functionality there is on this little thing compared to more expensive LUMIX cameras. Overall very pleased with my purchase. It’s light enough to take everywhere and although I bought it primarily as travel camera, it has replaced my iPhone as a casual shooter. So much so, that I’m now about to sell my iPhone Pro Max. Cannot fault this little camera. Sure it’s not perfect, but for the money it’s magnificent.
