The paint was full of swirls and had never been polished before. I spent 14 hours polishing every part of the car with this, including door shuts, intricate bumper areas and light clusters. I did this using the stock pads. There is no info on what cutting grade the pads are (which is not good), but I can tell you that red is heavy cut, orange is medium cut and it’s obvious which is the finishing pad. I used the waffle and straight orange medium pads throughout in one and three inch depending on the area and they did the job admirably. I was even able to rinse the pads to save them clogging and re-use them. Having two batteries was great, the spare had fully recharged each time I was ready to swap a battery and each battery must have lasted about 70 minutes or so in constant use. The unit gets hot, but you would expect that, especially on a warm day as it has been. It’s fairly light, so it wasn’t hard work on the arms or hands. This is by no means a professional tool, but for the enthusiast it’s solid and does a good job for the price tag. The Golf is now swirl free… confirmed with light for identifying swirls.
