Pioneer TS-G1030F - 100 Millimetres Woofer

Pioneer TS-G1030F 10 cm 210 W Coaxial G Series 3 Way Speakers : desertcart.co.uk: Electronics & Photo Review: Easy fit for vw t4 transporter, befits felt with upgraded headunit and rear 6x9’s - Bought along with some plug adaptors for the dash speakers of my vw t4, as the passenger side original had blown. Easily fitted after removing a couple of the tabs (easily done). Depth of speakers is fine. I was hoping for an improvement in Audio quality (I’m an ex sound engineer), but this wasn’t really the case. Compared to the paper-cone originals, these lose a little mid-range and gain a little treble and slightly deeper bass. This may seem useful, but in the real world you lose noticeable clarity, especially with spoken word material. On the move (with road noise) this translates into a need for higher volumes. In the end may have been better replacing the blown speaker with a genuine secondhand unit, or spending more to get something better. On the upside for around £23 including apaptor I have functional audio and when the van has improved soundproofing I might notice the extended frequency range. September 2018 Update: Now I have a decent head unit and rear 6x9’s these sound really sweet. I set the front/rear balance so the rears do more of the work. My head unit also allows me to specify the size of speakers, so presumably avoids sending too low frequencies to these via a high pass filter. I have also applied sound deadening to the front doors and roof, but the big effect was the 6x9’s powered by a more powerful headunit.
