Review: EXCELLENT - EIELE DIY Drone Kit Review: Fun kit to
assemble. Seems to work well out of the box. No missing parts.
There was much (albeit somewhat basic) informational content
included prior to the instructions. This touched on: history of
aviation through drones, basic flight terminology, principles of
quadrotor style flight. Inline commentary on design choices was
also included as to why some parts were selected, in the form of
how they operated, or why they were chosen over alternatives. The
layout of the instructions puts the "warning, or important" bit
at the end not at the beginning of each step, which appears to
have caused some confusion for online reviewers. Functionally,
the manual could use one improvement. The color saturation on the
"red parts" is so deep it's hard to see the edges of the bosses
on the parts so orientation isn't readily apparent. The component
quality seems above average. The motors feel solid, the board
looks relatively clean, the CF rods are stiff. The printed
components feel very solid, and the print quality is good... not
perfect.. but good. Aside from the few criticisms inline, there
are a few things I wish this kit would have done differently. I'd
have preferred to solder together the controller., I'd like
source code for the drone itself along with a programming header
prepopulated on the board., I'd like the models to print out my
own frame components., I'd like a statement of assembled weight
somewhere in the product listing (I didn't see one if it's
there.), None of these are dealbreakers in any way, and the kit
wasn't advertised to include any of those. Just wishful thinking.
I've reached out to their support email to obtain access to their
educational courseware (advertised in the back of the manual)
moments ago, but have not received an immediate response.
Pleasant surprise it came with 2 batteries, AND 2 CHARGERS! Kit
difficulty rating: Novice You only need a small screwdriver to
assemble.
Review: Great DIY kit to learn the basics of building drones -
Better than expected. It works, and I'm not afraid to crash it.
Great kit, and for the price, I'd buy another one (to experiment
with and modify). The booklet provided the necessary step-by-step
instructions while also sprinkling nuggets of information that is
good to know for people getting started in building drones. The
controller is good and pairing was easy. No soldering or
programming was required. I haven't gotten to try the wifi-app
controller yet. Comes with spare parts, AA batteries for the
controller, and 2 lithium batteries (with chargers) for the
drone. It does not come with tiny screwdrivers.
