The metal is heavy enough so that you cannot just push it in with your thumb like some kettles that I have tested/used in the past. Also, the seam to join the top of the kettle to the bottom is at the top of the kettle so that point of failure is eliminated. I have had sever with the seam at the bottom and they seem to always develop leaks at some point. The dual handles are nice for stability and stay cool enough that I can pick up the kettle full of boiling water when I use a gas kitchen stove to heat it. More on the reason I am using a "camping" kettle on a kitchen stove in a bit. I really like the spout as it pours well, and I haven't noticed any problems with dribbles or the like. The spout on a lot of kettles I have tried in the past have poured badly, with water going places that you just don't want hot water. The kettles will hold enough water to rehydrate at least two meals (all I tested it with) and still make a couple of cups of tea. --- Ok the reason I am using this kettle on a kitchen stove... I have found over the years that if I use my "camping" pots and pans in the kitchen for a few weeks BEFORE I take them out for use over fires or canister stoves the metal seems to "set" and I do not have the problems with warping the bottoms that I have read several people complain about in other reviews here on other sites that rate camping gear. ------------ OVERALL ----------- I recommend this kettle as the price is reasonable and the quality of the one I bought is excellent. If fact, I am purchasing a second one so that I have a spare in case the first one gets lost/borrowed or destroyed. I can't think of a better recommendation than that.
