Review: An excellent high-quality kit, fun to build - I have
built several of these marble runs, and this is one of the best
kits. Wood parts are precisely cut into 5 sheets. Light hand
pressure is all that is needed to free each part from its frame
without splintering or breakage of the small tabs. The kit
provides a good small screwdriver for the many screws, a stick of
wax for the gears. I did not need to use the small hammer,
container of glue, or the sanding stick. Most parts are pressed
in place with just finger pressure, and they hold fast. The
instructions are clear pictures with a few English captions.
Parts are clearly numbered on the sheet and in the instructions.
There is a very good color photo of the entire build. In some
cases, like steps 20-22, I found myself referring to that picture
to see the positioning more clearly than the diagram embedded
with the steps. Some of the parts themselves have numbers printed
on them that are visible in the finished build. I am ok with
these numbers appearing, but I am not sure if everyone would
agree. There are lots of extra parts on the boards, but I did not
need any of them. The stair assembly, lower right, was difficult
to assemble because of the number of tabs to fit at once. But I
used glue stick to secure the wide parts of each step to its side
and then fit these two assemblies together. I suppose this is
where the provided glue could be useful, but I didn't know how
fast this glue would set, so I used my trusty favorite glue stick
to hold the pieces during fit up. No need for permanent glue
here. The kit is built on seven stands that attach to the base
with clips. I think clips are the best, rather than notched tabs
in other kits that have to be slid to place, or gluing. Assembly
of the elevator took the most time. I recommend manually testing
the turning of the propellers before attaching the motor. I found
the initial fit up produced a few jams, but the propellers were
easily twisted in place to provide a fluid run for all of them.
The finished product is satisfying, running flawlessly over a
long stretch of time. The marbles are slightly larger than other
kits I have built, so they move more deliberately and visibly
through the run. This kit has an unused exit on the right side
that is likely intended for an add-on kit. A rocker that would
allow this exit is clearly blocked off in this build. I could not
find an add-on kit online. Maybe it will be coming later. Hope
so.
Review: Strong and entertaining - It is very entertaining and I
like it because it has its complex part, it was very pleasant to
assemble it and see the result, it is made of wood and the pieces
have good support and brings spare parts and the metal balls to
throw are many.
