Review: Good, cheap monitor that does the job well. Don’t
overpay. - I’ve been using the ViewSonic VA2456A-MHD 24 Inch IPS
1080p Monitor with 120Hz for the past few months as my secondary
display for work and light gaming from my home office in
Franklin, MA, and it’s punched way above its budget price
point—easily one of the best value 24-inch monitors out there
right now. Setup was plug-and-play: connected via DisplayPort for
full 120Hz smoothness (also has HDMI and even legacy VGA for
older devices), VESA mount compatible if you want to arm it. The
SuperClear IPS panel delivers excellent color accuracy and wide
viewing angles—vivid reds, blues, and greens without washout when
I shift positions. Full HD 1920x1080 resolution looks sharp on a
23.8-inch viewable screen, no pixelation noticeable in daily use
like spreadsheets, browsing, or streaming. The 120Hz refresh rate
with Adaptive Sync (likely FreeSync-compatible) is the standout
feature—scrolling feels buttery smooth, mouse movement is fluid,
and light gaming (e.g., indie titles or older games) benefits
from reduced tearing and stutter. Response time is snappy (around
1ms MPRT/4ms GtG), no ghosting in fast motion. Built-in speakers
are decent for casual use (clear enough for video calls or
YouTube), though I usually use headphones. Eye care tech shines
for long sessions: Flicker-Free backlight and Blue Light Filter
(with presets) reduce strain—I’ve noticed less fatigue during 8+
hour workdays compared to my older 60Hz monitor. The 3-sided
frameless design looks sleek on a desk, great for multi-monitor
setups (I paired it with another ViewSonic for productivity).
Pros: • Super smooth 120Hz at this price—rare in budget IPS
monitors. • Solid build, matte anti-glare surface handles office
lighting well. • Versatile ports (HDMI, DP, VGA) and built-in
speakers. • Eye ProTech+ features make it comfy for extended use.
• Around $100-150 street price—excellent bang for buck. Minor
cons: The stand is basic—no height adjustment or tilt beyond
minimal (some users call it wobbly on uneven desks; I added a
monitor arm for perfection). Brightness tops at 250 nits—fine
indoors but not HDR-level. No USB hub or advanced ergonomics. If
you’re upgrading from a 60Hz office monitor or want smoother
visuals without breaking the bank, this is a fantastic pick for
home/office hybrid use. Highly recommend—5 stars. Smooth,
reliable, and eye-friendly upgrade!d
Review: Very Good Value - This is my new monitor for my new
computer. It fits perfectly at my office work station. I have a
ViewSonic 5X4 monitor which is what I am comparing this monitor
to. Both have clear pictures and good stands. It is worth getting
the slightly more expensive version to get a good stand. The main
fault is that the off on switch is in the back and not accessible
for me. I like to turn my monitors off at night, but the screen
saver now shuts it off after an hour. Not a big drawback so I am
not taking a star off. I am not a gamer so the 120 Hz refresh
rate is more than enough for my use. This is a very good value
for a well known brand that has been around for many years.
