The Supermarine Spitfire needs little introduction, one of the best-known aircraft deployed by the Royal Air Force in the Battle of Britain, as British and German forces struggled for control of the skies over the English Channel. The Mk. I had a streamlined form with elliptical wings designed for speed, and was powered by a Merlin engine. Tamaiya is top of the line Review: Easily one of the finest model kits ever produced - The Tamiya Mk. I Spitfire displays some of the finest engineering I ever seen in a 1/48 model kit. The fit and finish of the kit is unparalleled, as is the detail and relief of the molded parts. That said, it is not necessarily a novice's kit due to the extremely fine nature of the details and the photoetch parts. If I was to have any criticism it is that the canopy masks are uncut, though considering most kits do not even come with masks this is purely a nitpick. For the experienced and equipped modeler, this kit is an absolute dream come true.
