Review: Powerful sound, lightweight build, and great battery
performance - This speaker delivers really good sound quality for
its size, with strong bass and clear output even at higher
volumes. It looks a bit bulky at first, but once you pick it up
it's actually lightweight and easy to carry, which makes it great
for both indoor and outdoor use. The build quality feels solid
and well put together, and the waterproof design adds extra
confidence when using it outside. Pairing is quick and stable,
and the controls are straightforward to use. Battery life is good
overall. The advertised 12 hours is clearly based on low volume
with lights off. With the RGB lights on and low to medium volume,
I got around 8 hours, which feels realistic for everyday use.
Charging is also quick, which is a nice plus. Overall, a very
well balanced portable speaker with strong sound, good build
quality, and practical features. Definitely recommend.
Review: Great Bluetooth Travel Speaker - Punches Well Above it
Price Range - I ordered the StageSound Stage GoFree 2 Bluetooth
Speaker as I thought it might make a good travel speaker. I have
quite a few Bluetooth speakers including a very large
well-reviewed high-end mains powered one from Cambridge Audio
which I use in my office. I also have a very expensive high-end
separates system, and always try to prioritise sound quality. A
speaker the size and price of Stage GoFree 2 is never going to
compete with those, but I am quite Gob-Smacked at what it does
for its size and price. I have heard a lot of much more expensive
Bluetooth Speakers, which don’t sound this good. The StageSound
Stage GoFree 2 feels very well made and solid. It is quite small
and light at 20cm and just under 500g, which makes it is ideal
for travel. Usefully for a travel speaker it is waterproof and
dustproof. It also has a built-in carry strap so you can hang of
you backpack or bike. It is USB-C rechargeable which gives 12
hours playback. A suitable USB-A to USB-C cable is supplied.
There are RGB lights in a strip at the front between the volume
controls, and around the passive drivers at the ends. These flash
in time with the music, which is Ideal if you want a party, but I
prefer them switched off. It uses Bluetooth 6 for strong and
stable connection, and was very easy to pair with my Samsung S26
Ultra. It has a 3 mode EQ which you select using on of the
control buttons on the back. Unusually there is a useful USB
Playback function which you use by plugging in a USB memory stick
etc. Next/previous tracks can be selected by pressing the
volume-up/Volume down buttons for 1.5 seconds. If you have 2
Stage GoFree 2's, you can pair them together in stero. The Stage
GoFree 2 is clamed to generate a normal 25w with a peak of 40w.
For its size, it certainly goes loud. It gives a much larger
sound than you would expect for the size of speaker. In my
testing, I found it has clear and open mid-range. Bass is also
good and unlike some small Bluetooth speakers, which try to boost
the bass, it does not overpower the rest of the sound. It worked
really well with my preferred vocal, acoustic rock and jazz
genres. Overall, it is a very enjoyable listen, with a good
balance. It is good value, and it basically does everything
right. In my opinion, this is probably the best small, reasonably
priced Bluetooth speaker I have used, and I will be very happy to
take it with me on my travels.
