I bought this mic just looking for a hangable mic that I could leave permanently on my favorite tube amp, instead of having an SM57 on a stand whenever I wanted to record the amp. I expected this mic to be on par with my trusted SM57, but it blew my Shure SM57 out of the water! It has all the aspects of an SM57 but with much more clarity, while even improving on the quality of the highs, mids, and lows! I can't say enough about this mic for recording a guitar amp—it is STELLAR!!!!! It also sounds amazing on a small tube amp running into a PA when playing a show! Basically, if you're a guitarist who records or wants to play out with a small amp for a gig, this mic is a must-have! The build quality on the mic is hardcore Shure quality. I'm just an occasional weekend warrior, so I would have trouble justifying it at full price, but that's just my situation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this mic at full price to anyone needing a cab mic on a regular basis. Bottom line, it seems to pick up a very full range of frequencies without hyping any of them, which is what I was looking for. Built like a tank in typical Shure fashion.
