I already own the TD510 XLR mic and it’s one of my favorite mics in my collection. It gives this warm almost velvety sound that just makes voices sound really good. So when I saw the TD510 Air+ I had to check it out. First thing I noticed is that it’s lighter than my original TD510 but it’s packed with way more features. Testing this mic out was actually really fun because there is a lot you can do with it. Even straight out of the box with zero EQ or anything done to it the sound is already really good. I literally just plugged it in and started talking and it sounded great right away. This mic has both USB and XLR outputs which I love. If you’re just starting out you can run it straight USB into your computer phone or even PS4 and PS5 and you’re ready to go. If you upgrade your setup later you can switch to XLR and run it through an interface or mixer for even more control. I love gear that grows with your setup. It also has built in EQ adjustments and AI noise reduction which is honestly crazy at this price point. You can switch between three different audio enhancement modes depending on your environment to help handle high or low frequency noise. The AI noise reduction helps filter out background noise so your voice stays clean and clear. Another thing I really like is the built in headphone jack for monitoring. You can hear yourself while recording and adjust both the mic volume and headphone volume directly on the microphone which is super convenient. It almost feels like having a mini audio interface built right into the mic. The build quality is really nice too. It comes with a boom arm which is the typical spring style boom arm you see included with a lot of budget friendly microphones. It works fine and gets the job done. The mic itself absolutely does not need an upgrade but if anything down the road you could upgrade the boom arm if you wanted something with more range or a low profile look. But talking about the microphone itself Tonor really knows what they are doing when it comes to microphones. This thing is loaded with features and sounds great. For the value you are getting way more than you pay for. As a content creator I’m honestly hyped to add this mic to my collection. It sounds great right out of the box and gives you a ton of options to grow your setup later. Tonor keeps proving that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get great audio. For ease of setup, I was going to use my existing mic arm, but it turns out this one looks very similar and isn't dinged up or dusty, so I swapped in the new one that came with this set. Bolting on and adjusting the mic arm was easy and only took a few minutes. I did use my existing XLR cable that hooks into my Scarlett Solo preamp. (the cable and preamp are not included). Recorded myself a few times to hear how I sounded. Aaaand my recordings only went to the left channel. Checked my PC audio settings and changed the mic audio to use 1 channel, not 2. If this happens to you, that's likely the fix, as the Scarlet Solo will use the left input for the left channel and the right input for the right channel if you are in 2 channel mode. Oops! Went back to recording myself and created several clips. All sound buttery smooth. It picked up the crisp Ts. For my setup, it helped to capture the best volume and clarity if my lips were close to the microphone for recording. Asked my wife to join me on a video call from her device and we chatted for several minutes. She said the sound quality was great on her end. No issues. Overall, this mic rivals the audio quality of my AT2020. And costs substantially less.
