Review: ALMOST perfect! - I’m a gear snob, so this purchase was
outside of my comfort zone. My last monitor was a splurge, a
$1000 Dell gsync 1440p 1ms 144hz that was INCREDIBLE. Faint lines
started showing up on it while working on a deadlined project, so
I took to desertcart to see what I could get quickly. I saw this
thing, looked up some reviews, compared specs, looked it over,
and decided to take a chance. For the price if it sucks, I didn’t
lose that much money. It has now been 2 months of every day use,
and I’m more than happy that it is my primary monitor now. I’m
still waiting for the catch. It FEELS kinda plastic and cheap,
but that’s because it is. The cost cut has to come from
somewhere, but who cares unless you’re touching or moving it
ever, which, probably not. The color takes some time to adjust
and dial in, but if you’ve ever calibrated a tv or another
monitor, once you have your test patterns and a little patience,
I got mine almost identical to my previous one side by side
before putting it to rest. The brightness, clarity, response
time, and viewing angle are all amazing. I’ve done 3D modeling,
word processing, gaming, I’ve used multiple windows
simultaneously, all looked and performed great. This thing is
legit. The only complaint I have with it, and I don’t even know
if it’s just mine or across the board, is that when I turn my PC
on or wake it up from sleep, the monitor takes FOREVER to turn
itself back on. I’m talking when I had both of mine plugged in
and I wiggled the mouse, the old monitor was on in less than 2
seconds. This guy is pushing probably 12-15 seconds. That is a
long time. The first few times I was assuming something was wrong
with my PC. Once it’s on, that’s all and you’re left with an
insanely competent monitor for the price.
Review: Solid performer - Ok. I purchased this monitor (H34S18S)
back in August 2024. This is a solid monitor. Very good picture
quality, immersive, wide color gamut, 4000: contrast ratio, and
up to 165Hz. The wire cover at the back of the monitor is held
securely in place via magnets. It works well. There are also 2
HDMI ports and 2 DP ports and one headphone jack. There are no
KVM or USB hub. As far as aesthetics go, it isn't a fancy looking
monitor with a lot of crap tacked on it. There is a simple led
ring at the back that randomly changes colors. It adds a nice
touch without going over the top. There is an option to turn it
off. Other than that. Very simple, clean look to it. Picture
quality is impressive. I enjoy the 4000:1 contrast ratio. Blacks
are deep and colors pop. That along with the 34" ultrawide makes
everything very immersive and enjoyable. I was skeptical about
this monitor. What convinced me to purchase this monitor? After
doing some research, it turns out that KTC has a long track
record. They were around since 1995. The company is a well-known
manufacturer of OEM panels. They sold panels to other known
brands. All in All, I am very satisfied with my purchase. I hope
KTC continues to keep focus on things like picture and build
quality and not get too caught up with too much bloat.
