The M113 can be regarded as one of the most famous Armoured Personnel Carrier (APCs) in history. It was developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s with the specific goal of transporting a fully armed and equipped infantry group with a high level of protection as close as possible to the area of deployment. In addition to the tactical transport of the infantry unit, the M113 was also able to provide immediate support for the troops through the weapons integrated in the vehicle, which in the early versions were limited to a 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine gun. Used for the first time in the Vietnam War, it became one of the world's most widely used armored vehicles, with over 80,000 copies produced.
