Review: Great Portable Cooler – Works Well! - I was initially
unsure about buying this Hi-Gear 28L Electric Cool Box after
reading some of the negative reviews, but I’m very glad I went
ahead with it. I bought it to keep milk and a few other
essentials cold during an overnight stay at a wedding reception,
and it worked perfectly. While travelling in the car, it ran
brilliantly from the 12V socket and kept everything nicely
chilled throughout the journey. I drive a Nissan Qashqai and had
no problem with the size — it fitted behind the seat without any
issues. Some reviews mentioned poor design around the plug
storage, but in my case, both the mains and 12V plugs slotted
back into their compartments easily and securely. There was a
small amount of condensation inside, but that’s completely
expected with cooling technology like this — nothing excessive
and certainly nothing that caused any problems. The build quality
feels solid, the handle is sturdy, and overall it performed
exactly as described. If you're after a reliable, spacious
electric cool box for camping, travelling, or weekend breaks, I’d
definitely recommend this one. Don’t be put off by the few
negative reviews — it’s a great piece of kit.
Review: Kept items cold for over 24 hours and cool for at least
48 hours. - I had been looking for a cool box for some time and
came across this. I think this is a fantastic product. We were
festival camping for 3 days with no Electric. This is how I used
this and the efficiency of the cool box. The day before, I loaded
all my food / drinks etc into the cool box. I then ran the cooler
overnight and in the morning the items were very cold. I then
loaded into the coolbox 4 freezer packs. We travelled to Cornwall
with the cool box plugged into the car. Worked great. After 24
hours with high temperatures in the tent, the items were still
cold. Well impressed. After 48 hours the items were still not
warm, still cool, but not as cold as the day before. After 72
hours, items were still not warm. The insulation must be really
good. I would recommend this product. Yes the fan is a little
noisy, 42db but you can turn down the fan so its quitter and
maybe run this on high when away from the tent when connected to
Power. Then at night you can either turn off or turn down. Are
the cables a little fiddly to put away, yes, but I managed to put
both cables away in about 90 secs, but all cable that need to
tidy up are never easy to get back in to whatever you get them
from. The storage was also good. Kept my beers and food cold.
Good design.
