Review: You NEED a Corded Vac - Especially when you have pets and
carpeting, you need a corded vacuum. And this is a very nice one.
Our last corded vacuum went out late last year, and I wanted to
see if alternatives were usable instead. I use robovacs which run
daily, and have cordless vacuums for touch-ups or when I bring
dirt in on my shoes. And those 2 tools keep dirt and pet hair
down to a minimum - at least on the tile floors. So when I got
this new Bissell Pet Hair Eraser corded vac, I wanted to verify
how well my robovacs were doing. Well, just vacuuming the bedroom
carpet I got a nice canister load of Boxer + cat fur. I enjoyed
using the new Bissell. It is light and maneuvers well. It has a
switch on the handle which allows you to change 'the suction' to
optimize for low pile carpet/bare floor or high pile carpet (but
the switch is more analog than digital - you can also leave it
towards the middle for medium carpet). I used it on the low pile
setting and didn't find the vacuum hard to maneuver at all (if it
seems too hard to move it across your carpet, try adjusting this
switch). The light on this vacuum is excellent. And while the
head is not quite as wide as an old full size vacuum, it is wider
than my LG cordless vacuums. So you vacuum more carpet in one
pass, but still don't have that old-and-clunky full width head
where you can't reach into places you want. The cord on this
vacuum is a nice and usable length. So many lesser brands will
try to save money by giving you a shorter cord, but not Bissell.
The canister is very easy to detach, empty and replace. I guess
that most modern vacuums have concentrated on filtering the
exhausted air so you aren't producing a lot of dust or odor. I'll
have to say that this Bissell vacuum has very clean exhausted
air. Of course they give you the option to pull out the handle,
attach the small cleaning head and do other jobs such as stairs
or upholstery. I'll admit that I almost never use those
additional features - I use a corded vac to vacuum rugs mostly.
Very nice little vacuum which supplements my other 'daily' vacuum
types. I still like how the robovacs do a general cleaning, and
it is great to pull the cordless vac out of its cradle and do a
quick dirt pick-up. But there is really no replacement for a
corded vacuum, especially in households with pets and rugs, and
this new Bissell does a great job with pet hair. Bissell, in my
experience, has always been a respected and quality brand. And
this new Pet Hair Eraser model corded vacuum seems to continue in
this tradition.
Review: Great cleaning power - contained - This review is for the
Bissell Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush. The vacuum comes with two
accessories and you have to assemble it. It is very easy to put
together. Everything lines up and snaps together. This also
means, if you ever need to replace a component, you can since
it's not just one piece. My first impression of the vacuum when I
first turned it on was that it was 'loud' but in a pleasant
pitch. It has an almost muffled sound and I think that's due to
the air being filtered. You don't feel a bunch of air blowing out
and you also don't see small particles floating from the vacuum.
It's totally sealed and filtered. That means the room feels
fresh. The mobility of the vacuum is also good. You can easily
turn it left or right using one hand and even though it's a full
sized unit, it can get into a lot of areas and partly under beds.
The up against the wall performance is just OK. It will push some
debris if it is against the baseboards. That is where the
attachments come into play. You can easily swap them off/on, and
they are stored on the vac itself. Nothing worse than trying to
find a not much used vac accessory. This is a good design. The
LED lighting is bright, and even the attachments have lights on
them. They are battery powered, so that is a bummer long term.
This vac pulls a lot of air in, and it's cleaning power is top
notch. The dual brush design picks up a LOT, and I haven't been
able to get it to tangle up at all. The canister is large, and
you can see the debris spinning as you clean. Overall, I really
do recommend this Vac
