Review: Ditched bottled water and never looked back - If you are
not familiar with desertcart Vine, it is basically desertcart
trading free* products for honest reviews. You see a lot of Vine
reviews that are cookie cutter and based on templates. I aim to
make my reviews honest and non-cookie cutter (other than this
intro and disclaimer). * These items are not actually free as
Vine members pay income tax on the items they receive. Therefore,
I will never order something from Vine unless I actually intend
to use it. I think this is important for readers to understand
because it means I will never order an item just to provide a
fake five star review to a company. If I review something as
good, it means I actually enjoyed using it or it fills its
intended purpose correctly. Items that don't meet my expectations
will be reviewed accordingly. Why I ordered this item: I've used
other Avalon water products and they've been great, so when I
needed to replace my water cooler setup I figured I'd stick with
what I know. The plastic-less thing appeals to me since I'm tired
of dealing with water bottle logistics. Likes: * The setup was
straightforward. Everything came in the kit and the instructions
were clear enough that I didn't have to hunt around for adapters
or figure out what size tubing I needed. Just connected it under
the sink and it worked. * Three temperature settings is more
useful than I expected. I mostly use the cold water, but having
the hot option for tea without boiling a kettle, and the room
temp for taking pills or whatever, makes a difference in how much
I use it. * The self-cleaning feature runs automatically and I
don't have to think about maintaining it. This was a big selling
point for me since my old cooler felt like it needed constant
babysitting. * Build quality is solid. The stainless steel
cabinet doesn't feel cheap and the whole thing runs quietly. No
weird grinding sounds or leaks. * The filtration system does the
job. Water tastes clean and fresh, and I'm not constantly buying
bottles anymore which saves money and space. * For what you're
getting here, Avalon products just represent good value. You can
spend a lot more on fancier systems and I don't think you'd get
much more benefit. No likes: * None Would I pay full price for
this product: Yes Final thoughts: If you're looking to ditch the
bottled water cycle and want something reliable that doesn't
require constant fussing, this does what it says. Works well.
Review: Best option I’ve found — especially for U.S. buyers -
I’ve tried a few reverse osmosis systems from different
companies, and I have to say Avalon has been the easiest and most
practical for U.S.-based buyers. The biggest reason? Filter
availability. You can pick them up locally (Costco, for example)
or order them online without hassle. I previously owned a system
from another brand where the filters were constantly out of
stock, and after about a year it became frustrating trying to
track them down. One important thing to consider before buying:
do you specifically want reverse osmosis filtration, or just
standard water filtration? Avalon offers both (which I love).
However, the RO version does cost more and uses more filters.
Roughly speaking, you’re looking at about $175 for the standard
filtration (2 filters) vs. around $250 for the RO system (4
filters). Either way, Avalon has been great — this is actually
the third Avalon water system I’ve tested, and all of them have
performed well. Side note: water that goes through reverse
osmosis does have a slightly different taste compared to standard
filtration systems. It may take a little time to adjust, but
that’s normal for RO water. It is also VERY quiet — I often have
to check to make sure it’s on. The hot and cold water functions
both work well. I didn’t immediately notice a way to adjust the
temperature settings, though to be fair I haven’t fully read the
manual yet. If precise temperature control is important to you,
Avalon does make some models that include touch interface
controls for that feature. Overall, reliable, easy to maintain,
and filters that are actually accessible — which matters more
than you might think long-term. Highly recommend.
