I was looking for something to store and protect the key, but something that I didn't have to actually hang, such as a keyring, from the key fob itself as I find having a keyring irritating when driving. You can clip the car key into the zipped case if you wish, but I pop the key in without securing the key to the inside and just zip it and put it into my handbag when not in use, then take it fully out of the case when I go to drive. The reason I like the case, and my main reason for buying it, was so that I had a place for the key in my handbag that was easy to find when rooting around for it and the case also protects the key from getting scratched or damaged when it is in my handbag.
