The tailgate striker latches allows the tailgate to latch to the striker bolts on the left and right side of the truck bed when closed and then open in operation of the tail gate handle. It is also where the tailgate cables are attached to prevent the tailgate from falling completely when opened. If your tailgate would not close or latch completely even when replacing the striker bolts, or have a hard time being opened even when the handle latch has been replaced then you may have a problem with the tailgate striker latch lever on your vehicle.
