Review: One of the Best Dash Cams - Undoubtedly one of the best
dash cams currently available, the Vantrue N4 Pro offers
excellent 4k image quality using the Sony Starvis 2 IMX678 image
sensor on the front, and great 1080p quality on the rear and
cabin cameras. Reading license plates under any condition is very
important in a dash cam, and the N4 Pro allows license plates to
be clearly read when in motion. Where this dash cam really excels
is night time use; license plates can clearly be read at night,
even if the rest of the scene is dark or in motion. All three
cameras support HDR, which allows more detail to be seen in
shadows, while avoiding overexposure in the same frame. I was
able to easily set up the dash cam at night, using only the light
from my phone flashlight. No expertise or prior experience is
necessary. The Vantrue app is helpful in remotely changing the
settings of the dash cam, as well as downloading footage to your
phone, instead of having to take the SD card out all the time.
Being able to view the live feed from the dash cam on your phone
is pretty cool. The Vantrue Player allows viewing the GPS trace
of each clip, along with telemetry such as your speed,
coordinates, and acceleration, helpful if you want to prove that
you weren't speeding. Using it, you can also view the footage
from all three cameras separately or simultaneously, even though
they are recorded into separate files. I'd definitely recommend
the N4 Pro to anybody who wants peace of mind in the event of a
collision, as it's image quality and ability to clearly capture
license plates is brilliant, and will certainly help immensely in
any trouble following an accident.
Review: Very crisp & clear recordings - Having had other good
quality dash cams professionally fitted, i obviously did a lot of
research before deciding on the VANTRUE N4 Pro 4K 3. I can
honestly say it was an extremely sound investment indeed. The
camera does integrate well with the phone that I have and I think
there may be a slight problem in the area I live in as the signal
strength isn't particularly great and it does struggle to connect
between the phone and the camera but I think this is more of an
issue with the connectivity rather than the camera itself. There
are a great deal of settings and features in this camera and it
does take some considerable time to workout what features you
want to set for your own particular circumstances. Personally, I
wanted to ensure that the camera wasn't operating at peak rate
all of the time because that appeared to generate an enormous
amount of heat, which in turn is not good for the storage on the
micro SD card. I was a little reticent to spend out money on a
large memory SD card but having had professional dash cams in the
past that appeared to chew through SD cards at a rate of knots,
this appears to be a sound investment and the camera doesn't
appear to be overly warm at any point in time. The front camera
has been mounted mainly behind the rear view mirror on the screen
and the rear camera is extremely small indeed and doesn't obscure
the view. In summary it gives me some degree of confidence that
the car is adequately covered, and I also have the option of the
cockpit camera if I want it. While this camera attracts a premium
price, it is exceptionally good quality and the Peace of Mind is
worth the asking price of alone.
