It doesn't stand alone but that's not a big deal for me. I highly recommend this is you need a good solution to a vacuum without having to lug around a bigger canister vacuum. Sharks Rocket is a little beast. - I have lots of vacuums. I have cordless sticks, traditional sweepers and the robot vacuums that run when I'm not around. I have two dogs, so I feel like I need to clean the floors constantly. I found that the cordless sweepers are convenient, but not very powerful. I wanted a light vacuum with strong suction and I knew that a battery wouldn't work...that's why I got the corded version. Wow. It's so powerful. It really picks up the dirt and I am very happy with how well it cleans my carpets. The cord is long enough that I can move around easily. It's not very noisy and I really enjoy it. It was super easy to put together and although I saw some negative reviews about storage, I haven't had any issues with just leaning it up against a wall. It was a great buy and I am very happy with the quality.
