You can power either by mains, although you have to buy the adaptor, or by POE. I chose to purchase a 8 channel NVR with the camera. The quality of the picture is excellent and the full colour night vision is brilliant. There is an alarm function in the camera which is as loud as a car alarm so unless you don’t mind upsetting the neighbours, I would not use that. Also has 2 way communication which is handy too. Overall very happy and will be looking to expand the system. Review: Actually really happy and suprised with these cameras - Been running reolink CCTV for a few years now and historically had issues with the RLC-410 and 510s fogging up during weather changes here in the UK (im northern based so one minute its sunny, next minute im in the middle of a perma-frost) and these are holding up well. The night vision is excellent both color and traditional IR. The optical zoom is really good and better than I initially expected. These are installed on a farm and are used at the top end of a high shed and to maintain integrity and picture quality i have them zoomed in around half way. This meant the cable runs could be shorter and better stored, but also the cameras were much further out of reach. No issues with the person/vehicle/animal detection either. They are nicely timestamped and recorded as configured. I have put in a 256Gb Micro SD card for local recording, and permanently record to a 12TB 36 Channel Reolink NVR and the integration between both systems is flawless - as i hoped but had some reservations about. The connectors for the RJ45, power and reset all come with a plastic plug on them, so if you use PoE rather than a DC connection, you can leave the plastic plug on the end which is a massive upgrade from previous Reolink cameras where you had to protect the power and reset buttons from the elements using either tape or camera boxes mounted on the wall. Massive improvement and the longevity is definitely going to improve because of this. Would recommend these - even better if you can get them on a Prime Day or general sale like i did. They appear often and typically you can get a black and a white one together.
