Fit & finish are perfectly fine, no quality issues but the fact that the pieces are not locked (unlike the small plastic units that we used to buy in our childhood) is a major logical flaw because every random arrangement is not solvable. Kids can spend an hour futility trying to solve it, not realizing that it's not solvable. With this type of design you need to start by setting to the solved state BY LIFTING THE PIECES, then scramble it WITHOUT LIFTING THE PIECES and then start playing. If you lift pieces to scramble it, you may unwittingly start with an unsolvable array.
