Review: An absolute joy to play with. - I grew playing ganes in
the arcade but slowly transitioned to consoles and PCs as Arcades
were becoming harder to find. Now, many(MANY) years later I found
myself wanted to see if arcade sticks had gotten better since I
was a kid. Boy have they! I would describe this fight stick as
the Ferrari of fight sticks. I'm on PC and wanted something that
won't wake everyone up at night from the clicks and clacks. This
silent version is amazing. The buttons are super quiet &
responsive and the stick is too. Do you need one as highend as
this? Probably not. Do I recommend one as highend as this?
Definitely! If are on the fence about if you would like a fight
stick I'm not going to tell you to b go out spend 200-300 on one
but buying a very cheap one will most definitely put you off of
using it. I know there is a newer model of this stick and this
version is hard to come by nowadays but if you do happen to see
one for sale grab it.
Review: Overhyped, like most sticks I imagine - Given all the
other reviews, and youtube videos, I imagined as though I'd be
playing like I used to in an arcade, way back when. Truth is, it
feels nothing like it. And to be honest, I doubt ANY of the
commercial consumer sticks will ever feel like it. Regardless of
what people claim. See, in an arcade, the buttons, the stick are
all connected via a harness that is screwed into what is
basically a heavy plank of wood. With a vinyl wrap over the top
of it. And it's that material, and that weight that actually
gives the authentic feel of an arcade. It's why guitars sound
different depending on what materials they are made of. Buying
any commercial stick is like buying a guitar made of plywood.
It's just not right, and there is no point in shelling out for
better strings, better pickup, etc, when the guitar itself is at
fault. I think what I will end up doing instead of modding this,
or any other commercial stick, is to simply buy the actual
buttons, stick, harness and make my own, out of wood, and install
the components in that instead. Anything else is just a
compromise. Perhaps I'm just being fussy. But that's just me.
Personally I think these, and everything like them, are simply a
waste of money if you, like me, grew up on actual arcade
machines. As no matter how much you spend on the actual buttons,
stick, etc, it will never come close. Ever. For anyone not
interested in perfectionism, then, I guess this is okay. * Works
with Windows 11, OOB. * Worked fine with Street fighter V, no
config required. * Works fine with emulators, like Retro Arch, as
above. * Is seen as an xbox controller, so you can use it as one,
meaning it will work and is compatible with everything Windows
related. * Has a nice size to it, fits lovely in the lap * Is
decently made, very sturdy, quality components. * Very silent,
you could use this and not wake up other flatmates, residents,
etc. - Non detachable cable. - Cable is rather short. (If you're
sat far back from the TV, or your PC/Console is tucked away, you
will need an extension - Artwork is meh at best. - Buttons feel
mushy (But again, that's probably the enclosure and not the
buttons - Seems overpriced for what it is. I can see how this
maybe appealing to someone who hasn't put thousands of hours in
an actual arcade from the 80s/90s. Probably even great. But for
old duffers like me, I'm sorry, but it doesn't come anywhere near
close to what I was lead to believe it would be like. The best I
comparison is those cheap multigame cabs you get in shopping
centres where they want to appeal as 'retro'.
