Review: Does everything I need it for - Age is not a friend to
eyesight and I was starting to struggle with a particular website
editing programme where it was becoming increasingly difficult to
read text as the template size could not be increased and
increasing text size would throw the layouts out. I use a 14in
laptop which has been fine until the last few months so a monitor
seemed the simplest solution. This one works with no problem,
simple plug and play and you really don’t notice the curve. You
sit close to a monitor so as you turn your head the curve keeps
your eyes at a fairly constant distance. Text, graphics and video
all display well and photo editing is a breeze. Some reviews are
less than complimentary about the sound and, let us be honest, it
is not hi-fi, but the sound is better than most laptops and equal
to most and even better than some 27in TVs. If you really want
higher quality sound there is a headphone socket which can be
used for auxiliary speakers. For general use, and as I run a
theatre review website, desertcart Prime Music gets a fair amount
of use, the sound is fine. There was no sign of dead pixels and
with no adjustment the picture was fine out of the box –
incidentally, the monitor was well packaged and had a simple
strap system to easily pull the monitor in its packing out of the
box. There are plenty of controls on the on-screen menu to adjust
all the usual suspects if you want to play. I was happy with what
came out of the box. The monitor is lightweight but seems well
built and is stable on the stand. There is a tilt adjustment but
no height adjustment, which seems to be fairly common at the
cheaper end of monitors. It is not a problem for where I placed
it, but it is something to bear in mind if location could be
difficult. I don’t do gaming on my laptop so I can’t comment on
the monitor for heavy duty games, but I have tried an desertcart
Fire Stick and the picture quality is excellent, with perfectly
acceptable sound, and it will work with Switch when my grandsons
come round. All in all it is an excellent monitor at a decent
price from a reliable, established and well known manufacturer.
Review: Works great for Macs. Picture is good enough for work. -
If you want a crystal clear picture where you can see the every
hair follicle in Ryan Reynolds beard, then this monitor just
isn’t for you. But if you want a decent quality screen that’s
cheap and works great for emails and spreadsheets then this
monitor is probably for you. It’s good, does what it claims to
and it’s pretty big so I can fit a fair chunk of dull data onto
it. The curve is alright if you look at it straight on, but if
you’re giving side eye at your desk mate’s curved screen your
eyes might go a bit funny. But all in all, no issues and it looks
cool. And it works for Mac because of the refresh rate. Let’s not
go into boring technical details, it just works. Buy it, plug it
in, and you’re good to go. Easy.
