Review: Plug and play - nothing to think about - I recently
rewired my home for ethernet. I have drops all over, and at each
drop I keep a switch. The 16 port switch sits next to my cable
modem. It plugs into a local 8 port switch for TV components that
have ethernet connections, e.g. the TV, the Nintendo Switch, the
PS, and any laptop that needs to use the TV for video. Each drop
has its own 8 port switch for local devices to plug in. So far
it's literally just plug it in and let it do its own switching.
It's not WIFI so it has no wifi signal. And so far no tech
support is necessary because it's not being programmed to do
anything other than switching. The 8 port switches work fine too.
Review: Great 16 port un-managed switch - This switch is awesome.
I wanted an un-managed switch for my home since I don’t do
anything that I would need a managed switch for. I replaced
another Gigabit 8 port switch with this one. I like that it has
the lights that indicate the speed of what’s plugged into them.
That is nice to know that it’s either 10/100/1000 mps connection.
The one thing that was hard for me was that the ports were on the
front of this one and the back of the old one and I had to redo
some of my excess wiring to let more wire loose so it would reach
to the front and then tie wrap them to the underside of the wire
shelf I use for my electronics. It has worked well so far and I
assume it will be as reliable as the previous one which was here
for over 10 years. The little rubber feet didn’t work so well on
the wire shelf but it reallly didn’t matter. The whole thing is
tie wrapped to the wire shelf to keep it secure just like
everything else on that shelf.
