The saw features an electric brake for maximum productivity and a cast magnesium base. Automatic drive technology adjusts cutting speed under load for optimal cutting performance. The saw is also equipped with Makita's Extreme Protection (XPT) technology, it is a series of integrated seals designed to improve the operation of a tool in extreme conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components.
