Buy Review: Impressive contrast ratio 3000:1, smooth image, LG colour modes are very good - LG VA-LCD Display (2025 Model) The latest 2025 VA-LCD display from LG comes with a few limitations, mainly the refresh rate and colour gamut, which are only just adequate for creative work. That said, the colour accuracy and overall picture quality are genuinely impressive. The stand could be stronger for a monitor of this size, as it wobbles slightly, but it’s not a dealbreaker. The built-in speakers are decent — not a replacement for a sound system, but definitely better than what I’ve had on previous monitors. LG’s on-screen menu is excellent, and the small joystick makes navigation very comfortable. The colour modes are well designed too. For a 2.2 gamma, Mode 3 seems the closest match. I calibrated the display, but even out of the box the accuracy was very good. Just make sure to turn HDR off if you want the most consistent results. Viewing angles are perfectly fine for a main display. Brightness is more than acceptable — in native brightness mode, contrast performance is excellent. USB-C (latest version) delivers both power and video, and the built-in hub lets you connect other devices directly to the monitor, making a one-cable setup possible. The design is minimalistic but stylish, with a low-key aesthetic that fits well in most setups. Review: SOUND - One star for the sound The product info says: “Built-in speakers with Waves MaxxAudio deliver an immersive audio-visual experience - enhancing everything from blockbuster films to adventure games with deeper sound, richer tones, and greater scene detail.” Really??? The sound is awful. I am minded to return it!
