You are slowly running out of supplies that the upper world has not to offer. Light up the obsidian portal and go through to reach the Nether Fortress. This repellent structure is protected by various hostile mobs. Help Alex defeat Blaze who guards the fortress. Take your diamond pickaxe and dig for glow stone to have a light source on the go. But just make sure that you do not trigger a lava flow. Build an access point to break through the fortress wall, grab your diamond sword and launch a surprise attack on the Zombie Pigman. Take on the red-eyed ghat shooting with fireballs to get the chest that contains 2 diamonds and a golden sword, collect mushrooms and nether warts and dig for nether quartz ore.
