Klein Tools ET16 - 9 mm 3 m

Klein Tools ET16 Borescope features a 9 mm camera surrounded by 6 LEDs attached to a 10-Foot (3 m) armored gooseneck cable. The digital camera has a USB Type-C (and micro-USB) connection for most Android® (OTG 4.0 or higher) smartphones and devices. The camera and video output is displayed on the Android® device using the free Klein Tools ET16 Borescope App, available for download at www.KleinTools.com (not available anywhere else). The ET16 does not require batteries; it is powered by device connection. Review: Useful tool when needed. - The product arrived quickly and at a competitive price. A short download of the software from the Google Play store and it's quickly up and running. On my phone it can be set to always open the Klein software when the boroscope is plugged in, so it's virtually instant plug and play. I've read loads of reviews saying others can't get a picture on the camera. They should check if they gave permission to use the phone's camera and storage when they first tried using the ET16. The camera is a VGA specification but good enough for many uses. The image is clear and soon focuses when the camera either stops or slows down its movement (it's a 25fps camera). The adjustable led lights are bright enough but don't expect floodlighting. As per other reviews, the USB cable length is a bit short but easily remedied with an extension cable. The cable length is fine if you're holding your phone and the boroscope brightness adjuster in the same hand, but that's not as easy as it sounds. Klein could have scored some points if they supplied this with an adjustable cradle that holds the phone and boroscope together. I might try and cobble something together from a old selfie stick I have laying around. The software is really easy to use and more than adequate. Overall, a decent bit of kit.
