Review: Fun, lightweight camera. - I am used to shooting film
with a mechanical SLR, so I ordered this as something fun and
random for casual occasions like a birthday party, or to send
with a kid to summer camp. The camera's lens has a fixed 32mm
focal length, which gives a somewhat wider perspective than the
naked eye, pushing background objects a bit further back and
requiring you to get a bit closer to fill the frame with nearby
objects. The viewfinder is a simple pass-through type, for
framing only. The narrow, fixed f/10 aperture means that you get
almost everything in acceptable focus from about 3 ft to
infinity, but the tradeoff is that you really need to enable the
flash in all lighting situations except bright sunlight. The
1/140th of a second shutter speed means that this isn't great for
capturing fast action, because you will get blurred movement.
Fujifilm 400 film stock is known for having very neutral colors
and good sharpness. The quality is a better than your average
instant camera. The back of the box says the film is set to
expire in April of 2028. The camera body itself is plastic,
pretty comfortable to hold, and lightweight. It fits great in a
coat pocket. The instructions are very straightforward with only
3 steps: turn the film advance wheel, turn on the flash by
sliding a switch, and shoot! Anybody should be able to figure it
out. Every film lab in the world is able to process the film in
these cameras, and will recycle the bodies. You don't have to
remove the film yourself, you just bring or send them the camera.
I think this is a great value if you don't want to bring a "real"
film camera to an event. The light weight makes it especially
attractive for hiking and random day trips. I recommend giving it
a try.
Review: Good value for memories that last! - This is such a fun
little camera! As an ’80s baby, it really takes me back to my
childhood. It’s a cool piece of nostalgia that actually serves a
purpose - get off your phone and still take pics! I picked up
mine for a camping trip. I wanted to disconnect completely and
leave all devices at home, but to do that I'd have no memories of
my trip. This was a perfect solution! For those of you too young
to remember these, you just need to point and click and develop
the film later. It also forces you to be more mindful of the
photos you do take; there is no instant review, or room for 100
photos of the same shot. You get one and done, and only later do
you find out if it was a good one. With 27 exposures you have
plenty of room to get in a few good shots. The 400ASA is a good
general exposure that will fit most lighting environments. It
also has a flash, which is a nice feature on a disposable.
Finally, it's Fugifilm - which is quality. The colors are vibrant
and sharp once it's printed out. These would be great for
weddings or events, to leave on the table for your guests to take
photos with. Although they could get a little pricey for events
(at around $20 a camera), but I would definitely pick one up
again for my next road trip.
