I am able to get some cable channels with the antenna it comes with. It also has other plugs where you can attach other antennas. I have an external cable antenna and I did not need to attach it cause I have the channels I most watch which is fine with me. Good quality, functions well I have had this TV for a while. Review: Not perfect but well-priced and works nicely in a kitchen - Good quality inexpensive little full-HD TV. I'm using it with an HDMI connection to a set-top box, so can't speak to the reception. CONVENIENCE. Fits 100mm mounts. I love having the front-mounted buttons for volume and power and menu settings, so you don't have to rely on the remote. The connectivity is good: I bought an HDMI 270-degree right-angle connector to avoid the cables protruding out the side. The menu lets you set the TV to turn on automatically when it detects a signal (default) or disable this feature. SOUND. The sound is a bit boxy but has decent intelligibility. As noted in another review, the volume goes from zero to its lowest "1" setting which may be too loud in some environments, but it's fine in a kitchen setting. FYI you can't just click the volume up/down buttons: you have to hold them down for about 1/2 sec to register a change. This took a few minutes to figure out. IMAGE. There are menu settings to let you customize brightness/color. I found the black point of the picture to be set too high: I couldn't find a setting which prevented shadows from losing detail. But most people would not notice this. Viewing angles are sufficient.
