I use it with the power cable (instead of batteries, which don't seem to last too long). Other than that, this is a great item - really adds to the atmosphere and sets the mood. It's built well, and I anticipate it lasting several spooky seasons for us. It's very quiet (considering that there is a mechanical motor), the light is quite bright, and the color is accurate to the listing photos.
