Review: Sceptre 24.5" Gaming Monitor Review – Great Performance
for the Price - Honestly, this monitor has been a great surprise.
The 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time make everything feel
super smooth, especially when playing fast-paced games like Call
of Duty. If you’re a competitive gamer, you’ll definitely
appreciate the edge it gives you. I love that it has two
DisplayPort and two HDMI inputs—makes switching between my PC and
console a breeze. The tilt-only stand is okay, but if you like
more adjustment options, this might not be for you. The built-in
speakers are fine for casual use, but I personally use headphones
for better sound quality. For the price, you’re getting a solid
gaming monitor. It’s fast, reliable, and perfect if you don’t
want to drop a ton of cash on a high-end screen. Pros: Super
smooth 240Hz refresh rate & 1ms response time FreeSync helps with
smooth gameplay Good port selection (2x DisplayPort, 2x HDMI)
Amazing value for the price Cons: Speakers are just okay Only
tilt adjustment on the stand Overall, I’m really happy with this
one—definitely recommend it if you're looking for something
budget-friendly but high-performance!
Review: Great Display. Not perfect for gaming. - I would like to
start by telling you that this is a great monitor overall
(specially when you consider the price). The picture quality is
great, though it's not the crispiest, even if you're just coming
from using a 1440p monitor of the same size, as I am. This is
roughly 90 PPI, and the 1440p one is 122 PPI... the difference IS
noticeable. There are 2 main selling points that may interest
you, if you're looking for something similar: - 240 Hz at less
than $200... Heck, at less than $150. - An above-average picture
quality for the price, mainly due to the contrast-y VA panel
(pretty good blacks, great for content consumption, though no
fancy features, like HDR, obviously). - Decent brightness level
(320 nits, advertised on the manufacturer's website). Here's
something not-so-great that you might want to now about before
buying: - VA is not the best panel technology for gaming, even
though this is marketed as a gaming monitor. The season? Black
smears WILL appear, specially at lower frame rates. Something to
note, is that this monitor comes with the overdrive setting set
to medium by default, and it completely destroys the image
quality in motion. If you're planning to buy this monitor, PLEASE
turn off the overdrive in the monitor's settings panel; it
doesn't even have a positive effect. If you want a clearer image,
there's a blur-reducing feature that works pretty well, but you
can't turn that AND Freesync on at the same time, unfortunately.
