I do not like having EarPods in or a headset so I thought this might be a better option than just the standard microphone on my laptop. I am very pleased with the quality of the microphone. I record a lot of these meetings so I was able to do playback and hear my voice. There’s often some background noise in my home like a television in the other room and I was happy to hear that it was not picking that up due to the noise canceling feature. I did not notice any lag in speaking, which is an important point for me. I didn’t care so much one way or the other about the color, but it is kind of fun, especially if I’m in an environment where there are other people around. It takes a little getting used to with the various different settings because these were new to me, but the clarity is definitely a plus and I was thrilled with the price point. Plug-in play makes it a great accessory as well. Review: Has headphone monitor jack, pop filter loose - This is a USB desk microphone with features made for audio recording. It has a cardioid pickup pattern which should make it useful for recording two people sitting at a table, for an interview, for example. To me its best feature is the 3.5mm headphone jack for monitoring what the microphone is hearing. To be clear, that jack is not for hearing two-way conversations like a phone call but only for what this microphone is picking up. The sound quality is excellent. It has noise cancellation that I found does mute extraneous sounds like tapping on my computer keyboard, but will tend to clip my voice unless the gain knob is turned up to a high level. That gain knob has continuous rotation. That is, it has no stops so you don't know when it is at its highest level, other than the sound--if you have your monitor headphones on. Pressing the gain knob toggles the noise cancellation and a blue light indicates if cancellation is on. It has two touch switch locations, right on the front panel MUTE LED, and on the top of the microphone to change the RGB LED light show. That brings us to my chief complaint--the RGB light show. Now, I expect there are lots of customers who like the changing LED colors but I'm not one of them. I find them distracting and in my view, it makes the microphone look like a toy. Fortunately you can turn them off. Unfortunately, when you plug in to a computer, they default to on. It takes eight taps of the touch location to cycle through all the colors to finally get to the OFF state. If you inadvertently touch the top of the microphone you'll need to tap eight times again. Then every time I use it I have to do the eight step tap dance. It does not remember the last state before unplugging. My second complaint is that the supplied pop filter (a nice addition) does not fit properly and is too loose to stay put. I had to wrap the bracket with tape to get it to stay on. It comes with a 60 inch USB cord which I find adequate if a little short. It's easy enough to get a longer cord if your computer is not close by. The first time using the microphone was MOSTLY plug & play with my Windows 11 laptop: I had to open Windows Sound Settings to re-enable the computer speakers for sound output as Windows configured the microphone as a headphone with a microphone--which it is not. Overall, I'm impressed with the sound quality of this microphone and like the headphone monitor jack. I got the loose pop filter problem solved but have to live with the irritant of having to turn off the RGB light show at every use so that kept it from a five star rating.
