Review: Awesome rechargeable wireless lavalier mic set! - I have
dreams of creating my own YouTube channel, so when I saw this
Boya BY-V4 set of 4 wireless rechargeable lavalier mics, I knew I
had to order it. Here are my thoughts. What you get: - 4 wireless
lavalier microphones with windscreens and clips. - 1 receiver (In
my set, I ordered the iPhone compatible receiver "RXD", but there
are options for USB-C "RXU" and traditional 1/8" aka 3.5mm audio
jack versions - "RX35") - 1 charging case - 1 USB charging cable
Pros: - I love that the kit comes with a charging case. This
works just like AirPod charging cases, where there are slots for
each of the four rechargeable mics, plus the receiver. The case
automatically charges the mics whenever they are inserted, and
the case itself can be connected to charge the internal battery.
(The receiver itself is powered by the audio recording source,
typically a cell phone, tablet, or camera, depending on the
receiver option you choose.) The case itself is about 5.75" W x
3.25" T x 1.25" D, so it is super portable and nicely protects
the mics and the receiver. - Easy to use. The mics are already
paired with the receiver, and automatically go into connection
mode as soon as they are removed from the charging case. Assuming
your receiver is plugged in, the connection happens almost
instantaneously. - Size. The mics are about 2.5" end to end,
slightly more than .5" wide, and about 3/4" deep (including the
clip.) As these are fully self-contained, they do not have a long
wire to a transmitter pack that can more easily be hidden, but
the convenience of these more than makes up for their form
factor. The clips swivel, so they can be adhered to your subjects
in a variety of ways, and with a little creativity, I am sure it
is possible to come up with solutions where the mics are mostly
if not completely hidden. Of course, it is best not to have to
hide them, so if you don't have to...don't. - Quality. I tested
two of the mics at once with my iPhone 14 Pro and they worked
flawlessly. THe sound quality itself was great and did not sound
tinny or thin. I could hear both audio sources clearly and there
was no clipping or cut out of either source even at a good
distance. I haven't tried the Noise Reduction Mode, but I would
expect this to work best to remove extraneous constant background
noise like machines or engines, droning traffic hum, etc. I will
be eager to see how well this works in real-world use cases. I
really like this set. It makes mic'ing up to four people at a
time an absolute breeze. I think the quality is perfect for a
podcast or casual video with multiple subjects. I am very happy
with this wireless mic set.
