How the ECG and PPG sensors work Step 1 A pair of medical-grade Electricalgraphy (ECG) sensors measure pulse waves to determine your heart rate. Step 2 An optical Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor then measures blood flow directly from your finger to determine your pulse.
