The four divine beasts are considered guardians of the world and each of them is associated with a cardinal point, color, season, and series of virtues. Their origins are shrouded in mystery, but they are everywhere the subject of deep reverence. Despite their importance, only the most devoted priests truly believed in their existence, until the malevolent influence of the zombie plague caused these elemental powers to manifest themselves. Now they appear to survivors as infected incarnations of the divine beasts, asking to be helped through combat and fire purification. Once freed, the divine beasts will grant the elemental powers to their benefactor as a blessing.
