Super Sculpey Firm is perfect for the sculptor who creates fine detail and requires a material that can be carved and will hold its shape. Although firm, it still offers great malleability and the capability to blend pieces together with extremely smooth results. After baking, it is shatter and chip resistant, making it possible to be carved, sanded and drilled. This clay allows you to use build-up methods that are more additive and focused on building out shapes in small increments. Once the clay has been kneaded slightly, it is malleable and ready to blend. After curing in the oven, Super Sculpey Firm can be sanded, drilled, carved and painted. This clay will not air dry and can be stored (in a cool place) and reused until it is hardened through oven baking. Once baked, the clay is a neutral grey colour and can be painted with water-based acrylic paints if required. Sculpey III can also be mixed in to change the colour before sculpting. Uncured clay may damage unprotected working surfaces – please make sure your work area is covered. A silicone mat, wax paper, aluminium foil or a metal baking tray are suitable working surfaces. Ensure your hands and surface are clean and free from dust and debris, as the clay can easily be contaminated.
