Review: Excellent Phone, All the Haters Lied to Us - I’ve used
Samsung’s Ultra and Note series for years, so I’m very familiar
with wide, boxy phones and large displays. That’s why, when I
first got the Z Fold 7, the cover screen initially felt narrow
compared to what I was used to. In height it’s almost the same,
but the width seemed smaller. However, this feeling only lasted a
few days—once I adjusted, I realized the cover display is more
than enough for everyday use. In fact, it’s very similar in size
to the S25 Plus, and you can comfortably run any app on it. The
magic happens when you unfold it. The internal display is huge,
immersive, and makes you forget about missing the wider Ultra
screen. You can run two apps side by side, or one above the
other, almost like having two phones in one. For example, you can
keep your email open on one side while chatting or receiving
information on the other—copying, pasting, and multitasking
without constantly switching apps. You can also watch a video on
one half while replying to emails, chatting on WhatsApp, or doing
other tasks on the other half. It’s an unmatched experience that
no regular phone can offer. Multitasking and Apps Multitasking on
the Fold is incredible. Editing photos, playing games, or
browsing is simply more fun on such a large display. Most apps
are optimized because Samsung’s software is excellent, and social
apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook look fantastic. If
you ever prefer a narrower aspect ratio, you can quickly switch
any app to “slim mode” through the multitasking options.
Addressing the Haters’ Complaints Under-display camera: You can
enable a black bar in apps to hide the camera area, so it never
gets in the way. S Pen: While there’s no built-in S Pen slot, you
can use a capacitive S Pen. By enabling “increased touch
sensitivity” (especially if you use a tempered glass screen
protector), it works very well for everyday use. Battery life:
After weeks of use, I can confirm the battery lasts all day. With
adaptive power saving and dark mode, I’ve managed up to 10 hours
of screen time on the cover screen, and 7–8 hours with mixed
cover and main screen use. Heavy gaming or demanding apps bring
it down to 5–6 hours, which is still solid. To preserve long-term
battery health, I recommend enabling battery protection (charging
to 90–95%) and avoiding letting it drop below 30%. Cameras For
99% of users, the cameras are more than enough. The biggest
advantage is using the high-quality rear cameras for selfies or
streaming, which no standard phone—including the Ultra series—can
match. Plus, when taking photos of others, they can preview
themselves on the cover screen. Photos, selfies, and videos are
sharp and vibrant. While professionals may prefer the S25 Ultra
for advanced photography, the Fold’s versatility makes it an
excellent choice for almost everyone. Final Thoughts The Z Fold 7
is an outstanding phone. Even if you’re coming from an Ultra, it
only takes a few days to adjust before you realize you don’t miss
the wider display. In fact, Ultras feel bulky and brick-like
compared to the Fold, which is slimmer, more comfortable to hold,
and far more versatile. The cover screen is fully usable for
everyday apps, and when you want something larger, unfolding
gives you a massive display that no traditional phone can match.
I don’t regret switching at all—this is easily one of the best
devices I’ve ever used, and I highly recommend it.
Review: A review for MOST users. ( I think) - First let me tell
you how I use the z fold 7. And I will compare it to the z fold 4
for those who might want to try a z fold but don't want to spend
a lot of money. First I use my z fold to watch videos while I am
working out on the treadmill or elliptical, or if I'm waiting at
a doctor's office or on in the bathroom. I respond to emails and
texts but I don't use it as a work center. I play quick games or
watch tik tok or other simple apps. I watch videos in bed while
my wife is watching home improvement shows on tv.. If you do more
or want more this review might not help you. I dont care if a
certain z fold opens an app .33 seconds quicker than another. I
am always by an outlet so I don't care if a certain z fold stays
charged MUCH longer than another. I love the bigger screen that
the fold series offer. Now. I jumped into the z fold world at z
fold 4. Here are some real problems with the z fold 4 TODAY.
FIRST you are going to get a used zfold. Battery life will be an
issue because it's older. BUT IF all you want is what I use it
for it's a great phone. Yes it's thicker than a zfold 7 yes the
screen is smaller BUT it's much less expensive and will give you
the same results as a z7 at a much cheaper price. SO YOURE ASKING
WHY DID I BUY A Z7 THEN. GOOD QUESTION. I had 2 z4s and what
really bothered me is that the hinges will at some point fail and
the phone won't open all the way. A zfold should open 180 degrees
a straight line. I owned 2 z4s and after a while both hinges
stopped opening all the way up. More like 175+degrees. My
research showed that this was a problem with the z fold 4 5 and
6. Supposedly they fixed it with the z7 but I still see on line
that some ppl are having that problem. I bought this phone
refurbished at a MUCH CHEAPER PRICE and so far it's great. But I
have not owned it a full month. I WILL DO AN UPDATE ON MY REVIEW
IF OR WHEN THE HINGE ON THIS PHONE IS A PROBLEM. Right now if
you're new to the zfold world and you are going to use it like I
DO I recommend the z4. Yes it's thicker, the battery won't last
all day if you stay on YouTube or tik tok but for the price I
think the z4 is great entry point. I am NEVER GOING BACK TO A
NONFOLD PHONE and I'm going to wait till the trifold 3 falls in
price to under 2k. So the z7 was the next best option. Now why I
love the z7. Yes mine is used. Bigger screen, more bells and
whistles, thinner and lighter and hopefully no hinge issues.
After 2 z fold 4s I wasn't going to buy a 3rd. My first zfold4
the hinge was a problem but I got my second because the battery
stopped working on the first one. It would only stay on if it was
plugged in. No one would replace the battery for me so I bought
the 2nd zfold4. My 2nd zfold had hinge issues and the apps
started popping up that I couldn't get rid of and the touch
screen got glitch. As far as battery life I Can't say better
battery life on the z7 because it's newer. Not a fare comparison
But I'm happy with it for now. If you have had a chance to handle
a z series and like it and want to committed definitely the z7.
If you're on the fence and don't or can't drop this kind of money
the z4 is a great buy.
