Review: Classic Metroid with some new twists in the game mechanics - ...with exploration, story telling, puzzles and lots of shooting I found this game hugely enjoyable overall. Took about 20 hours to complete on casual mode and the only part of the game I didn't really enjoy was the biking around the open-world desert area looking for green crystals toward the end of the game as this slowed the pace down. There are some new mechanics in the game such as using psychic beams and bombs and having to heal troops you are fighting along-side which worked well most of the time and I really enjoyed the lava boss followed by the timed exit as this echoes stages in MP1 and a 2D Metroid game. Bosses were fun but locating the weak spot and understanding how to activate it to hammer the boss didn't take too long most times. I did find a few of the cut-scenes a bit annoying but overall this was a very enjoyable game. I've played all the Metroid Prime games on the GameCube and Wii and I think MP4 sits well with this edition of the series - I hope to see MP2 and 3 remastered for the Switch and will purchase MP1 to see how this has been updated as the art style in MP4 is gorgeous. If I had to rate them, I'd say in order MP1, 4, 3 and 2 but each have their merits and annoyances. I'd like to see if playing MP4 for a second time at the next difficulty level will improve my enjoyment now I know where to go at the end of the game and when to return to drop off crystals so the pace of the game is maintained building up to the boss finale at the end. If you like shooters with a bit of a story and less open-world adventures then maybe this game is for you. Review: A True Masterpiece - Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is truly a masterpiece, the various locations you visit are all incredible in their own way and all do have that feeling of isolation from the beautiful jungle of Fury Green to the nearly barren desert of Sol Valley, to the frigid research facilities of Ice Belt to the sweltering furnace of Flare Pool, to the electrifyingly automated machine building factories of Volt Forge to the fear inducing nest like Great Mines, you will absolutely love every moment you spend on planet Viewros uncovering where all the Lamorn have gone and what Samus's purpose is while searching for a way out of planet Viewros and back to planet Tanamaar, Samus and a few other federation crew have been transported to and so all must work together to find a way back to Tanamaar but Samus only teams up with one or 2 of them at a time and only briefly as most of your time spent on Viewros will be on your own. The game is truly a masterpiece and is one of the best Metroid Prime games in the prime franchise and this game is the start of a new prime saga
