Review: Simple, reliable dash cam – GPS and Sony sensor give me
confidence on the road - I wanted a dash cam that was easy to set
up, didn’t require a lot of fiddling, and would give me good
evidence if someone hit me. The COOLCRAZY fit the bill. Why I
chose this one over others: GPS was a must for me: A few years
ago, I was in a minor accident where the other driver claimed I
ran a stop sign. I didn’t have a dash cam at all, so it was my
word against his. My insurance paid out, and my rates went up.
This time, I wanted GPS stamping so there would be no question
about speed or location. The COOLCRAZY’s GPS locks on quickly
(about 20‑30 seconds after starting the car), and the speed and
coordinates are burned right into the video. Included 128GB card
– no hassle: I’m on a fixed income, so saving $30‑40 on a memory
card matters to me. The camera came with a 128GB card already
installed, and I didn’t have to buy anything extra. I’ve been
using it for a month, and the card has been reliable – no
corruption or errors. The camera loops automatically, so I never
have to delete files manually. Sony STARVIS 4K – clearer than I
expected: I’m not a video expert, but I can tell the difference
between this and my neighbor’s budget dash cam. The footage is
sharp, and I can read license plates without zooming in. At
night, it’s surprisingly good – I drove through a poorly lit
parking lot last week, and the video still showed the lines on
the pavement and the numbers on the spaces. The screen shows me
it’s working: This sounds basic, but it’s important. The screen
has a red dot that blinks when recording. I glance at it every
time I start the car. If I ever see it not blinking, I’ll know
something is wrong. With a screenless dash cam, you might drive
for weeks without realizing it stopped recording. A few downsides
– none are dealbreakers: The outer shipping box had a small tear,
but the product box was in perfect shape. The camera itself had
no damage at all. The seller’s packaging is good – foam inserts
and a sturdy inner box. Final thoughts: This is a
straightforward, well‑built dash cam. It doesn’t have gimmicks or
unnecessary features. The GPS, included 128GB storage, and Sony
4K sensor are the main reasons I bought it, and they all work as
promised. If you want a reliable camera that won’t
nickel‑and‑dime you for a memory card, the COOLCRAZY is a smart
buy.
Review: Peace of mind for a small price - I got this camera for
my truck to record any possible instances of road insanity while
taking a trip from NC to CT. Luckily I didn't have to utilize it
for its intended purpose, but I'm glad I had it...just in case.
The camera has a touch screen and is always on and recording, as
long as it has power. So as soon as you turn on your vehicle,
it's up and running. That's nice because you don't have to make
sure to push this or that button. Truly a plug and play device.
It records on a loop and when the included SD card fills up it
automatically overwrites the oldest video with the newest
recording. The screen comes on if you touch it, but blacks out
after a predetermined time that you can adjust. This is important
so the driver doesn't get distracted by a small video screen
instead of keeping their eyes on the road ahead. There is an app
you can download that allows one to watch videos on a phone or
tablet as well and pairing the camera with those devices is
simple and straightforward. The image it records is pretty clear
and focused for such a small and really, inexpensive device. I
was pleasantly surprised with this. It came packaged in a nice
box with instructions that are pretty thorough. I like to play
around with gadgets anyway, so I had it figured out pretty
quickly. The windows suction cup works good too. Bumps, potholes,
railroad crossings...mine has been on my windows since mid
December 2025 through the end of February 2026 as of this
writing. Sun, heat, cold, moisture...none of these have affected
it staying put on my windshield. This is my first camera like
this. I think it's a good value for the money and possibly eases
worries when driving on what seems to be a racing circuit
sometimes. I'm pleased with my purchase and can recommend it to
other drivers.
