We make them long-lasting and repairable to minimize waste and the impact on the environment. To understand the climate impact of Suunto 9 Peak Pro, we have done a Life Cycle Assessment to calculate the amount of CO2e emissions one watch creates during its lifespan. We also compensate for these emissions with Verified Carbon Units. 100% renewable energy Suunto HQ and factory, where Suunto 9 Peak Pro is made, are located in Vantaa, Finland. Here we use 100% renewable, carbon neutral electricity and heating in all of our operations. Using carbon neutral energy at the factory is an important enabler of Suunto 9 Peak Pro’s small carbon footprint - 7,49 kg CO2e emissions produced during its full lifespan. 7,5 kg CO2e carbon footprint According to a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), one Suunto 9 Peak Pro creates only 7,49 kg CO2e emissions during its whole lifespan, from cradle to grave. This includes all materials and energy used in the production of the products (raw materials extraction, components, watch straps and packaging) together with other emission sources like logistics, usage, and recycling. The LCA was conducted according to relevant ISO and GHG standards by Green Carbon and verified by Sitowise. 7,49 kg CO2e emissions equates to, for example, driving a fossil fuel car for 44 kilometres*. We have fully compensated Suunto 9 Peak Pro’s lifespan emissions with Verified Carbon Units. *Data source: Govt of UK, Dept for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, 2021 100% carbon compensated We compensate for the lifespan CO2e emissions of each Suunto 9 Peak Pro watch fully with Verified Carbon Units via Tree-Nation. The compensation is done in a reforestation project in Southeast Africa that plants trees, protects biodiversity and supports local communities in creating sustainable livelihoods. We selected Tree-Nation as our partner because they are a non-profit organization dedicated to reforesting the world, and who consider different factors – also economical and social – causing the degradation of nature in the project locations. Tree-Nation is an internationally recognized organization and a partner of the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme).
